CONSTITUTION of the Oklahoma Conference Adopted 3/23/97 CONSTITUTION OF THE OKLAHOMA CONFERENCE OF SEVENTH-DAY ADVENTISTS 1 ARTICLE I - NAME 2 3 The name of this organization shall be known as the Oklahoma 4 Conference of Seventh-day Adventists. 5 6 7 ARTICLE II - PURPOSE 8 9 1. The purpose of this conference is to facilitate the 10 proclamation of the everlasting gospel in the context of the 11 three angels' messages of Revelation 14:6-12 to all peoples 12 leading them to accept Jesus as personal Savior and to unite with 13 His church, and nurturing them in preparation for His soon 14 return. 15 16 17 ARTICLE III - RELATIONSHIPS 18 19 The Oklahoma Conference of Seventh-day Adventists is a part 20 of the Southwestern Union Conference of Seventh-day Adventists, 21 which in turn is a part of the North American Division of the 22 General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists, a world church 23 organization; and all purposes, policies, and procedures of this 24 conference shall be in harmony with the working policies and 25 procedures of the North American Division and the General 26 Conference of Seventh-day Adventists. This conference shall 27 pursue the mission of the Church in harmony with the doctrines, 28 programs, and initiatives adopted and approved by the General 29 Conference of Seventh-day Adventists in its quinquennial 30 sessions. 31 32 33 ARTICLE IV - TERRITORY 34 35 The territory of this conference shall consist of the state 36 of Oklahoma. 37 38 39 40 41 ARTICLE V - MEMBERSHIP 42 43 The membership of this conference shall consist of such 44 Adopted 3/23/97 churches as have been or shall be properly organized in any part 45 of the geographic territory under its jurisdiction and formally 46 approved for membership by vote of the delegates at any regularly 47 scheduled constituency meeting. 48 49 50 ARTICLE VI - BYLAWS 51 52 The voters of this conference may enact bylaws, and/or 53 repeal them, and such bylaws may embrace any provision not 54 inconsistent with the constitution. 55 56 57 ARTICLE VII - DISSOLUTION AND DISPOSITION OF ASSETS 58 59 This conference may be dissolved only by a two-thirds (˜) 60 majority vote of the delegates present and voting at any 61 constituency meeting. 62 In the event of the dissolution of this conference, all 63 assets remaining after all claims have been satisfied shall be 64 transferred to a legal entity authorized by the North American 65 Division of the General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists. 66 67 68 ARTICLE VIII - AMENDMENTS 69 70 The constitution of this conference may be amended, revised, 71 and repealed at any duly called constituency meeting by a two- 72 thirds (˜) majority vote of the delegates present and voting at 73 any such constituency meeting. Notice of such proposed 74 amendments shall be given specifically in conjunction with the 75 publication of notice for such special session. 76 |
